On December 17, 1903, Orville Wright piloted the first powered airplane 20 feet above a wind-swept beach in North Carolina. The flight lasted 12 seconds and covered 120 feet.
Three more flights were made that day with Orville's brother Wilbur piloting the record flight lasting 59 seconds over a distance of 852 feet
the motor must be in the wheel hub area... but I don't see how it is steered, unless it's differential engine speeds, it looks chainsaw motors and twist throttles. 1939–1946. Total 33 840 units were produced. This truck is powered by gas generator that used firewood (or coal) to produce gas that powers the engine. Because of this it has low power and speed, it is difficult to service and not so easy to start up. But because the lack of gasoline in some north regions this truck was indispensable.

Above, the Kee Bird, which was the subject of an awesome recovery effort when private funding got it up and running, and moving, but old electrical wiring shorted, and the whole thing burned to cinders on film while a documentary was being filmed, it is so worth seeing!
